How do I add recipes to Honey?
You have several options! Import from any cooking website by pasting the URL. You can also take a photo of a recipe card or dish, and Honey will extract the recipe. Or tell the AI Chat what you want to make and it will create the recipe for you. Only the recipe itself (ingredients and instructions) plus the link to the source site will be imported.
I already have my recipes in another app. Do I have to start over?
Not at all. You can import recipes from Paprika in less than 3 minutes. Just export your Paprika library and upload it to Honey.
I want recipes that meet my dietary needs (gluten free, vegetarian, etc.)
Set your food preferences at the bottom of AI Chat or AI Recipe Search. When you import a recipe, the AI will automatically adjust it to your dietary preferences. Or tell the AI Chat what you want to make—the recipe will adhere to your preferences.
2 Organizing Your Recipes
How are my recipes organized?
Recipes are automatically categorized by type (salad, side, beverage, dessert, etc.), recently accessed, or cooking website. Search, sort and filter at any time.
Can I organize recipes my own way?
Yes! Create your own labels and tag any recipe. Then search or sort by label to find them quickly.
I don't have time to search through lots of recipe websites.
Tell the AI Chat what you want to make and it will create the recipe for you. Make as many adjustments as you want before saving. You can also paste a URL from any recipe site and Honey will import it instantly.
3 Planning & Shopping
How do I plan my meals?
No rigid meal plans required. Just add recipes to your "Up Next" list whenever you're thinking about what to cook. Tap "Shop" for one interactive shopping list, sorted by aisle, across all your Up Next recipes and your ad hoc grocery list. That's it. No endless lists.
I'm at the store. How do I get a shopping list?
Add or remove recipes from your "Up Next" list and tap Shop. Check off items on your phone as you go. The list is sorted by aisle so you can move through the store efficiently.
Can I print my shopping list?
Yes! Shopping lists by aisle can be printed, or use the interactive checklist on your phone.
What about a standalone grocery list?
Honey has a separate Grocery List for everyday shopping items (milk, bread, eggs, etc.) that lives alongside your recipe-based Shopping List. Add items manually, check them off as you shop, and view your history. You can even link your grocery list to a Hive so the whole household can add and check off items together (shared grocery lists are currently available on the web).
I've memorized what I want to cook but need a shopping list.
Tell AI Chat exactly what you plan to make. It will generate the recipe for you to add to your "Up Next" list at any time. Then tap Shop for a combined shopping list by aisle.
4 While You Cook
Can I get cooking advice while I'm making a recipe?
Yes! The Cook Along Assistant lets you ask unlimited questions about the recipe—cooking steps, substitutions, techniques—all in the context of your recipe. You can even make customizations and the recipe will update along the way.
How do I pin recipes I'm currently cooking?
Tap "Cook" to move a recipe to the Currently Cooking section at the top of your recipe box.
Can I edit a recipe?
Yes! Use the edit button to change, add, or remove ingredients and steps. You can also give the Cook Along Assistant your changes and it will update the recipe for you, tracking modifications against the original.
I like everything to be ready at the same time.
Use the Concurrent Cooking view to get instructions across recipes all timed together. Tap Cook on each recipe to add them to "Currently Cooking," then tap the clock icon. Also available to print. Concurrent Cooking is currently available on the web.
How do I remember what I made?
Mark a recipe as Cooked, add a photo of your finished dish, or write a note. Buzz it to your personal cooking journal—or share it with a Hive! Buzzing and Hives are currently available on the web.
5 Sharing & Hives
How do I send a recipe to a friend?
Use the share button on any recipe. Your updates and notes are automatically included.
What is a Hive?
A Hive is a group where you can share recipes with family, friends, or a community. Everyone in the Hive can post about their favorite recipes with photos and notes. You can also create a "Queen only" Hive where only the Queen and designated contributors can post. Hives are currently available on the web.
How do I start a Hive?
On the web app, go to your Feed and tap "Create a Hive." Name it, pick an icon, and invite members with a join link. You're the Queen—you control who can post and contribute. Hives are currently available on the web.
6 Platform & Privacy
Can I use Honey on my phone and computer?
Yes! Honey is available as an iOS app and as a web app. Access your recipe box on your phone, tablet, or laptop—everything stays in sync.
Will I be spammed with content I don't want?
No. You control all the content in Honey. There are no ads, no algorithmic feeds, and no sponsored recipes. Your recipe box is yours.
